Superintendent's Message

Bill Delbrugge | 8/11/2008

Flagler County Public Schools are already the envy of many other Florida districts. We are not content, however, to stand still. We plan to continue building a school system that is second to none.

Flagler County is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States and change continues to be on the horizon for us. This school year (2008-2009), three schools will be renovated: PreK Center at Bunnell Elementary School, Wadsworth Elementary School and Buddy Taylor Middle School. In addition to these renovations, we will also be adding a Wellness Center to Matanzas High School and will start construction of our newest school, Rymfire Middle School. These additional classrooms will enable us to continue offering outstanding programs to both our new and seasoned students.

Flagler County students continue to perform well on state and national assessments. This past year Flagler County Advanced Placement (AP) students scored higher than the State, Southern Region and National averages. In addition, the Flagler County International Baccalaureate (IB) students continue to score above the world average in areas tested and every school in our District is rated "A" by the Florida accountability system. Flagler is the only District in the State of Florida to achieve this high standard. Flagler students are held to lofty standards and are high achievers.

We are committed to providing a quality education for our children. They will be able to compete with anyone, anywhere after graduating from the Flagler County Public Schools. We would like to encourage the community to be involved with our schools and with our students. We believe it takes everyone working together as a team for us to develop an internationally competitive school system and we encourage your participation and support for our school system.

Educationally Yours,

Bill Delbrugge

Superintendent,
Flagler County Public Schools
