Tidelands on the Intracoastal

Tidelands is a lush Intracoastal community surrounded by water on three sides. Only 40% of the nearly 80 acre community will be developed. The balance of the community will showcase several open lawns, large oak trees, an 11 acres of lakes, canals and the Intracoastal Waterway. It is planned that each Tidelands residence will offer either a Waterway, canal or lake view. Education
The Flagler County School District is one of the finest and fastest growing school systems in the state of Florida. It is continually meeting the challenge of an ever-expanding student population from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade that exceeds 6,400.
Four elementary schools, two middle schools, and a high school are directed by the school superintendent and a five-member school board and managed by staff and teachers, 50 percent of whom have MBA degrees. In 1998, 92 percent of Flagler Palm Coast High School graduates went on to post-secondary institutions.
The school board also provides extensive life-long learning programs via Adult & Community Education. Included are apprenticeship programs for 25 trades and a sheltered workshop for handicapped adults.

A plentiful supply of doctors and dentists, an 81-bed hospital and two 100-bed nursing homes provide medical services in Flagler County. A new hospital is currently under construction to replace our 81-bed hospital, completion date is set for October, 2002. In our four-county region, 12 hospitals account for 2,016 beds and 39 nursing home facilities have 4,142 beds. There are two health maintenance organizations in our area ? Humana, Inc. and Florida Health Care Plan.

Flagler County´s new library in Palm Coast, located at 2500 Palm Coast Pkwy. NW, opened in January 2000. This magnificent new addition to the educational and cultural needs of the county is 30,000 square feet and provides a meeting room to accommodate up to 100 people.
In addition to the meeting room, three snug rooms in which to carry out literacy tutoring and permit group study (two to three persons) or quiet individual study have been designed into the facility. Additional Internet stations with advanced technology are available. A great variety of children´s library programs are offered, as well as the implementation of a School Curriculum Support Project which offers our children an additional source of reading and project materials to support their school assignments. Taxes
There is no state ad valorem or personal income tax in Florida. Corporate income tax is 5.5% on business property, payroll and sales. Retail Sales Tax in Flagler County is 7%. County ad valorem tax is based on millage rates per $1,000 of assessed value:

Transportation
Flagler County is traversed by Interstate 95 with three interchanges-Highway A1A, US 1 and State Road 100. Exit 91 at State Road 100 (Bunnell and Flagler Beach) is the closest I-95 exit to the beach from Maine to Miami. Flagler County is only 24 miles from Interstate 4 and is approximately equal distance between the Orlando and Jacksonville metropolitan areas.
The nearest commercial airport is Daytona Beach International Airport, about 30 miles away. Major airlines serve the nearby Daytona Beach International Airport, Orlando International Airport, and Jacksonville Airport. Corporate jet aircraft can land at the Flagler County Airport off S.R. 100.
The East Coast Intracoastal Waterway, bisecting the eastern portion of Flagler County, is navigable from Miami to the St. Lawrence Seaway. The Atlantic Ocean is accessed at Ponce Inlet to the south or at St. Augustine to the north.
The Florida East Coast Railway, United Parcel Service and nine trucking firms provide freight service. Although there is no regular bus schedule, local public transportation is available by calling (386) 437-7272. Cab services are also available
